Hornsby Bend Bird Observatory
***
Hornsby Bend is open to the public seven days a week from dawn to dark. Because we are a wastewater facility, all visitors must present an ID at the main gate to enter the site. The Center for Environmental Research building is open 7am-6pm every day, and restrooms are available there. Construction near the ponds continues so please see Location Map and Construction/Access Changes under the Birding Tab to understand where access may be limited.

Hawkwatch Data for 2002
10/24/02: Hi, Hawk-watchers! This is the final count for the Hornsby Bend Hawk Watch. I counted 16migrant species; including our resident Caracaras, I observed 17 raptorspecies. The final number is well above last year's total, due to thetruly astounding numbers of Swainson's Hawks.
I consider myself very lucky to have been able to sit and observe allthe things I did during my eight weeks at Hornsby, and I hope I'll beable to do it again next year! Thanks again to everyone who came to ourworkshop, helped out at the watch, and all of you who came to Hornsbyand visited.
